Drug suspect given probation and jail time

ESCANABA — An Escanaba man arrested in March during a large UPSET bust has been sentenced in Delta County Circuit Court.

33-year-old Brian Olsen was sentenced to two years of probation and four months in jail. He will also have to pay $588 in fines and costs. Olsen was granted work release provided he continues to test negative for drugs. He pleaded guilty to delivery or manufacture of a schedule four controlled substance in May.

He was originally set to be sentenced Tuesday, but did not appear. He later turned himself into police. Olsen was among several arrested after UPSET investigations into delivery and manufacture of the drug buprenorphine.
