Driving Instructor on Distracted Driving
April has been designated as National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

She’s trying to encourage young drivers to not use cell phones behind the wheel.
Bonnie Raffaele lost her 17-year-old daughter Kelsey in a car accident two years ago.
Kelsey had been talking on her cell phone at the time of the accident.
Bonnie and Kelsey’s aunt now travel around Michigan speaking with young people about distracted driving.
It’s tempting to do many other tasks behind the wheel, but driving requires your full attention.
Texting while driving is against the law in Michigan.
Dialing, or taking, a cell phone call is legal, however.
When new drivers are behind the wheel, they have to keep track of many things.
Donald Woodworth, owner of Guardian Driving School in Marquette, says a cell phone is an added distraction that drivers don’t need, especially younger ones.
