Domestic violence victim dies, suspect in jail on $5 million bond
A Dollar Bay woman has passed away after being seriously injured a domestic violence assault last week.
27-year-old Senaz Nezami died last Thursday, four days after she was brutally beaten by her husband, 34-year-old Nima Nassiri. Nassiri was initially charged with “assault to do great bodily harm less than murder,” with a $5 million bond. Nassiri remains lodged at the Houghton County Jail, but his charges could change. The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office says they will be submitting supplemental information to the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office to seek additional charges against Nassiri.
Nassiri and Nezami recently moved to Dollar Bay, and Nezami had enrolled at Michigan Tech University to attend the winter term.
