Dollhouses on display
MARQUETTE — It’s a day dedicated to miniature houses and more. Dollhouse Day returns to the Marquette Regional History Center this weekend.
Dollhouses that will be on display include a Barbie Dream House from 1962, a tin lithographed Western Town play set and a whole lot more. Dollhouse Day has become a popular exhibit at the center.
“It’s really fun setting up these dollhouses and getting new ones here each year,” said Jo Wittler, a curator at the Marquette Regional History Center. “Just seeing all of the great people who come in and enjoy it; we expect at least 100 people in. It’s just great to have people come into the museum and maybe they will get into the gallery if they have a chance.”
The exhibit will be especially decorated for the ever–fast approaching holiday season.
“The little trees, wreaths and greenery and Santa makes an appearance in a couple of them. It’s great to see those changes. We like to change it up once in a while,” said Wittler.
Dollhouse Day runs Saturday from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Kids that bring their favorite doll or stuffed animal with them will get in to see the exhibit for free.
