Another instance over the weekend of something that’s been all too common this summer — a drowning.

This time it’s in Dickinson County.

State Police from the Iron Mountain Post say it’s 34-year-old Todd Gustafson of Hardwood.

He drowned in the First Falls section of the Sturgeon River.

That area of the river is on private property near Felch.

Police say turbulence in a rock pool beneath a falls area of the river dragged Gustafson underwater.

The accident happened around 2pm Central time yesterday.

Police say there was zero visibility in the water, with high amounts of foam and whitewater beneath the falls.
