Details of Marquette Arrests

Marquette City Police have arrested three young men in connection with the high speed chase Monday in Marquette and Alger Counties and a recent breaking and entering in Wisconsin.

Details of the case are continuing to develop, but charges have been filed against three individuals. Arrested and believed to be involved in the Wisconsin B & E: 18 year old Tyler Voet, of Wisconsin, who has ties to the Marquette area and 20 year old Christopher T. Smith, from Wisconsin. Additionally, a 15 year old male from Wisconsin, who also has ties to the Marquette area, is in custody – currently lodged in a Wisconsin juvenile facility.

Here’s what police have pieced together so far. in the early morning hours of November 11th, Marquette police had contact with two suspicious individuals in south Marquette who were found to be consuming alcohol under age.

Police learned from that contact that the suspects had recently purchased this vehicle, a 1999 Chrysler 300.

On Sunday, the Waushara County, Wisconsin police contacted Marquette Police about a recent break-in at a game ranch in that area. A number of guns, and cash, was taken. The Wisconsin detectives had tracked the three suspects in their case to the Marquette area.

After an alert was issued for local police to be on the lookout for the suspect’s car, it was spotted on U.S. 41 between Marquette and Harvey. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver sped away, southbound on U.S. 41. Police gave chase..at speeds of more than 100 miles an hour..before the car’s engine failed and it came to a stop near Trenary.

Both suspects bailed out of the car. The driver was captured and tazered after a short foot chase.

The passenger disappeared into the woods. Police now believe he got a ride to Marquette from a man who lived in the area where the chase ended.

Police from the Marquette P-D returned to the South Marquette apartment from the under age drinking incident Friday. Two suspects were found hiding there: one was the passenger in the vehicle. The other was the juvenile suspected of being involved in the Wisconsin break in.
