Democratic Rally at Labor Day Festival

Organized labor groups of all kinds have a long history of supporting Democratic candidates at election time.

You just heard from Mike Prusi.

Other democratic figures joined him for a rally at the Ishpeming Labor Day Festival.

Rudyard State Rep Gary McDowell wants to follow Bart Stupak into congress.

Having worked for UPS for 30 years, he wants to help create the kinds of job opportunities in the area that he’s enjoyed.

It was an opportunity for the central u–p to meet Scott Dianda of Calumet, who’s running for the 110th district state house seat.

The Hancock native leaving that seat says since other areas know the value of the U.P. work force, we should, too.

Mike Lahti says, as he sees it, his number-one task is to create an environment where U.P. workers don’t have to leave the region to make a decent living.

Former state rep Tom Casperson of Escanaba is running against Lahti for the State Senate.

Casperson is a Republican.

We are told that he asked for permission to march in the Ishpeming parade but was prohibited from doing so.

We’ll have more about this for you coming up tomorrow night on ABC 10 News Now.
