Demand for Heating Assistance Rises

The unemployment figures have a certain impact on local agencies that help low–income residents with heating their homes this season.

The Marquette Saint Vincent De Paul chapter is seeing demand for heating assistance rise as the winter moves farther along.

So far, warmer temperatures than usual have prevented that demand from climbing too high.

The state of Michigan is now processing home heating credits for the 2011 tax year.

But heating bills should be higher next month than what we’ve seen.

But the drop in natural gas prices will help some residents as the winter moves along.
