Delta County Airport weather observation system repaired

ESCANABA — Problems with the weather observation system at the Delta County Airport have been solved.

Officials at the Delta County Airport say the Federal Aviation Administration was able to diagnose and repair the problem with the Airport Weather Observation System Tuesday morning. Investigation found that an antenna had moved over time, causing the communication line to main equipment to become less than optimal. The Delta County Airport administration and FAA Maintenance will work on moving the antenna into a better position.

Officials say that the administration is looking to establish a core group of weather observers to serve as a backup in case problems arise in the future.

The 1:25 p.m. arrival from Detroit and the 1:50 p.m. departure to Detroit are expected to be on time, and flights are set to resume as usual.
