Dee Stadium honors Coach Miller
A part of Dee Stadium in Houghton now bears the name of one of the area’s beloved hockey coaches. ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen has the story.
“He would make them skate until the cows came home but former Houghton High School hockey players remember their old coach fondly.
A dedication ceremony was held prior to the Houghton-Calumet hockey game at Dee Stadium in honor of Coach Don “Mitt” Miller.
Miller coached the Gremlins starting in the 1969-70 season and retired after the 1998-99 season…leading his team to a state championship in 1982.
Current Houghton hockey coach Corey Markham says the impact made by Mitt The Miller can still be felt.
The new locker rooms that were recently renovated now bare his name.”
