Debit card fraud on the rise
Bank and credit union customers in the southern U.P. have been targets of debit card fraud more frequently in the last several months.
One of the affected institutions is First National Bank and Trust of Iron Mountain.
Bank officials declined to speak with us on camera.
However, they said they’ve heard from other banks and credit unions whose customers are having those same issues.
In a statement to the Iron Mountain Daily News, the bank said it is working diligently on the problem.
Bank officials also urged customers to read their statements carefully and speak up if any unfamiliar transactions appear.
