NEGAUNEE — Pioneer Days celebrations aren’t the only activities going on in the City of Negaunee.

Public works crews were doing some routine maintenance on the city’s fire hydrants Thursday morning. Hydrants are flushed twice a year to help clean out the water system. Crew members said they run hydrants for at least five minutes — or more if the water doesn’t come out clear right away.

There are over 200 hydrants in the city.
