One credit union in the Upper Peninsula wants to expand into areas of the U.P. that it’s never served before.

‘Sir’ Federal Credit Union already serves Marquette, Alger, Baraga, Dickinson and Iron Counties.  Now it’s asking the National Credit Union Administration if it can serve even more areas.  Chippewa County would be the only area of the U.P. that it wouldn’t serve.

If ‘Sir’ expands, it’ll look to form partnerships with auto dealers and real estate agents in its new areas.  The credit union should get an answer from the NCUA by July 1st.

‘Sir’ Federal Credit Union is based in Negaunee.  It has branch locations in Negaunee, Marquette and Gwinn in Marquette County.
