Court rejects sentence appeal for drunk driver in fatal accident
ISHPEMING — The Wisconsin Court of Appeals has rejected an appeal of the sentence for the drunk driver who killed an Ishpeming teenager in 2012.
Timothy Christ, 31, of Wausaukee, Wisconsin was sentenced to 21 years in prison and 15 years of supervised release. That’s more time than prosecutors recommended in exchange for him pleading no contest to four felony counts.
His attorney appealed, but the appeals court has upheld the sentence, saying the presiding judge was acting within his discretion to impose it.
The crash happened in Middle Inlet, Wisconsin in October 2012. Christ hit a car head-on, killing Christopher ‘Bubba’ Croley, 13, of Ishpeming. Croley’s mother and two sisters were hurt.
Christ’s blood alcohol content was more than triple the Wisconsin legal limit.
