Cotton Candy Day

It was a dream come true today for U.P. residents with a sweet tooth, as celebration of National Cotton Candy Day was in full swing.

The Lake Superior Community Partnership and JRJ Food Equipment joined forces to help out the Upper Peninsula Luge Club.

Lucky passers-by on Front Street in Marquette had the opportunity to snag some of the fluffy pink candy you don’t often see in the middle of winter.

The sweets were free, but Luge Club president Jesse Renfors says the club is trying to buy much-needed new gear and they were taking donations to try to help with those costs.

This is the first time such a unique fundraising event was attempted, and it certainly attracted plenty of attention.

If you missed out on the action today, you’ll have to wait another 365 days before National Cotton Candy Day makes its return.

But you can still donate to the U.P. Luge Club any time of year.

If you want to learn more about it, you can check out its Facebook page here or call Renfors directly at 435–901–8543.
