Coreau signs with Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings announced this afternoon that they have signed former Northern Michigan University goaltender Jared Coreau to a three year deal.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Red Wings announced the signing through the teams Twitter account.

Coreau agreed to a tentative deal with Detroit back on March 18. He decided to forgo his senior season at NMU in order to turn pro.

Coreau started all 38 games between the pipes last season for the Wildcats, posting a 2.70 goals against average and a save percentage of .919.

The former NMU goalie will most likely see time in net for the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings top minor league team.
