CopperDog 150 wrap-up
Mushers from around the country participated in this year’s CopperDog 150 Sled Dog Race. ABC Ten’s Keweenaw Bureau Reporter Rick Allen followed the race every step of the way.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for this year’s running of the CopperDog 150 Sled Dog Race. The grueling 3-stage race opened up in Calumet with 28 teams beginning the winding trek to the first checkpoint in Eagle Harbor.
After only a few hours rest, the teams were back on the trails…on there way up to sunny Copper Harbor. The final leg brought the mushers back to Calumet for the downtown finish. Cheboygan’s Bruce Magnusson began the final day in the lead.
Minnesota’s Dennis LaBoda started in Copper Harbor on Sunday in fourth place, but couldn’t close the gap despite a great run that landed him in second. With mushers from Alaska and all over the country, the CopperDog 150 is now on the national stage.
