Copper Dog 150 Business Effects

Organizers are also expecting the Copper Dog 150 to bring in plenty of business to local stores.

At last check, 21 mushers are signed up for the 150-mile main event race, and 6 are scheduled for the 30-mile trophy-class race.

The Keweenaw Peninsula Chamber of Commerce is excited to see what the incoming mushers, and their families and fams, will do to the Copper Country’s economy.

Dallas Bond, the group’s director, says the musher turnout may be a bit lower than what the event was shooting for.

But those that are coming will be here from all over the Midwest.

To help prepare for the event, there’s a volunteer roundup tomorrow morning at 10 that the Calumet River Valley Bank is hosting.
