Convicted felon arrested on CSC, firearm, and drug charges

SAULT STE. MARIE — A convicted felon was arrested in Chippewa County after law enforcement concluded an ongoing criminal sexual conduct complaint.

Officers from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office say 48-year-old George Thomas Klukowski of Sault Ste. Marie was arrested Thursday after a search warrant was executed at his residence. Additional evidence from the alleged CSC assault, as well as a firearm, forty marijuana plants, and a large amount of processed marijuana were found during the search.

Police say that since Klukowski is a convicted felon, he cannot possess firearms. He also does not have a medical marijuana card.

Klukowski was arraigned Friday in 91st District Court. He is charged with five counts of first degree CSC, two counts of second degree CSC, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearms, manufacturing marijuana, delivery or manufacture of five to 45 kilos of marijuana, and maintaining a drug house. He is being charged as a habitual offender.

A probable cause conference has been set for May 14th, and a preliminary exam is scheduled for May 21st.
