Convicted armed robber could get new sentence

LANSING — An opinion by the Michigan Court of Appeals in the case of a Wisconsin man convicted of armed robbery in Baraga County could result in a new sentence.

The court affirmed the convictions of 49-year-old Bernard Fish, who is currently serving twenty to forty years in prison. However, due to a recent Supreme Court decision that rendered Michigan’s sentencing guidelines advisory, Fish would be entitled to a procedure that could result in a resentencing if the Baraga County Circuit Court decides that they may have imposed a different sentence in this case.

Fish was convicted of the robbery of two Watton residents at gunpoint while pretending to be a U.S. Marshal.
