Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Dan Benishek of Crystal Falls says his office is accepting entries for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition in Michigan’s First District.

This annual contest is open to all high school students in the Congressional district.

The winning piece of art will be displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol.

The district’s winner will be named on May 7th.

Guidelines for the contest are as follows:

— All artwork must be submitted by Wednesday, April 25, 2012.

— Artwork must be two-dimensional.

— Each piece can be no larger than 28” high by 28” wide by 4” deep, including the frame. If your artwork is selected as the winning piece, it will be required to be framed and must adhere to the size guidelines. — Artwork cannot weigh more than 15 lbs.

— Accepted media for artwork: Paintings (oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.); drawings (pastels, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers); prints (lithographs, silkscreen, block prints); mixed media (two media such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc.); computer-generated art; photography.
