Condition of car-pedestrian victim upgraded

A man injured a week ago in a pedestrian – car accident has been upgraded to “serious” condition.  61-year-old Richard Gelsinger suffered internal injuries when a man backed an S-U-V over him last Thursday evening.  Gelsinger  had been listed in critical condition at Marquette General Hospital.

56–year–old Daniel Delaski of Skandia has been charged in Marquette County District Court with “Operating While Impaired – Causing Serious Injury” in connection with the incident.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. last Thursday in the 100 block of Ingalls Road in Skandia.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office says Delaski was backing his 2006 Chevrolet Trail Blazer down his driveway when he ran over Gelsinger.

Delaski was attempting to give Gelsinger a ride and says he was unaware the man was walking behind the vehicle.

If convicted, Delaski could spend up to five years in jail and/or pay $1,000 to $5,000 in fines.
