Complex dentistry office expanding practice

Upper Peninsula residents will soon have more access to complex dental care.

Bay Lakes Center for Complex Dentistry, based in Green Bay, has an office in Escanaba that is open one day a week.  The office recently added a new dentist that will allow the practice to be open for an additional day.

“There’s limited access to dentists, but there’s a lot of good dentists in the area,” Dentist with Bay Lakes Center for Complex Dentistry Matthew Hallas said.  “And (opening a second day) gives us a new way to facilitate treatment with dentists, as well as bring a different set of skills to the area.”

“There’s two ways to come to the office.  One, you can call our office and schedule an appointment, and two, your dentist can give you a referral to our office.  It can be anything from simple to complex.  We focus on complex and complicated cases.  A complex case can be something as simple as a missing tooth all the way to the full mouth.  That includes dentures, missing teeth, or if you need a new smile.”

Hallas has been touring the U.P. to get to know area dentists and get a feel for Upper Michigan.

“I just moved up from Chicago and joined the practice, so we’re kind of putting names to faces so I can meet all the local dentists,” Hallas said.  “I am also working with medical specialists to offer alternatives for sleep apnea, where if you wear a c–pap there may be other alternatives to wearing a dental appliance.”

The office will be open two days a week starting November 1.  To set up an appointment, or learn more about the dental care offered, visit the Bay Lakes Center for Complex Dentistry’s website.
