UPDATE: 6:30 p.m. August 5, 2015 (EST) — The USCG Sector Sault Ste. Marie Command Center says that they are no longer looking for a person in distress.

ABC 10 has learned that the overturned boat that was found by the USCG today was unoccupied. The vessel overturned in the Keweenaw Bay last week.


ALGER COUNTY — An overturned sailing vessel was found in Lake Superior floating approximately four miles northwest of Grand Marais.

At this time the owner of the Hobie Cat has not been located. The Coast Guard is searching with partnering agencies for the possibility of a person stranded in the water.
