MARQUETTE — Members of the Marquette City Commission participated in a facility tour at the Pine Ridge Apartments earlier today.

The annual tour provides the city commission with a chance to see the services that the housing commission has to offer to their residents along with the improvements that are being made to the facility.

“It’s a great opportunity to kind of show off what is happening here,” said Executive Director Sharon Kivikko, “the tenants enjoy what we’re doing and the changes that we’re making. It’s a great place to live and it’s an opportunity to show that off a little bit to the commissioners.”

Improvements are continuously being made throughout the Pine Ridge Apartments and there’s no sign of stopping anytime soon.

“Right now what we’re seeing is some outdoor improvements with the landscaping. We’ve also been able to do some major improvements in the apartments with new cabinets, countertops, and flooring.”

Due to HUD limitations, there will not be any expansion for public housing in Marquette in the near future. With this being said, the Pine Ridge Apartments look at it as motivation to continue improving their facility as much as they can.
