City Commission moves forward with new park
MARQUETTE — Marquette residents are one step closer to having a new park in the community.
The Marquette City Commission voted Monday night to approve the acquisition of the Clark Lambros park, a development agreement and an agreement for a conservation easement. The park would sit on a thousand feet of lakefront property and plans currently include a beach house as well.
“We’re very excited at the possibility of getting this land. It’s prime land along the lake, it’s just the problem of transferring conservation easements is difficult,” said Mayor Pro Tem Dave Campana.
The conservation easements need to be removed from the property before it can be developed. According to City Attorney Ronald Keefe, that will be done at the time of final sale.
The acquisition and development agreements will now head down to Lansing for approval while the Conservation Easement agreements head off to the DEQ.
