Christmas Tree Recycling
Recycling your Christmas tree can also be done and it can save your city some money.
Property owners in the city of Marquette who pay a garbage/yard waste fee on their monthly bills are eligible to use the tree drop-off sites.
Through Janurary 16th, there will be two drop-off sites available for Christmas tree disposal.
One is located at the west end of Lakeview Arena parking lot.
The other site is the Baraga Avenue ice rink.
The city generally takes the trees to the city’s compost site.
The trees are ground up during the summer and then offered to area companies.
In the past, various organizations, including the Baraga County generation plant and the Renewafuel plant at Sawyer, have used the ground-down trees at their plants.
