Chocolay Township Fire Hall Millage

One Upper Michigan Township is hoping to pass a millage in the up coming primary election to help fund a new fire hall.

On August 7th, Chocolay Township will be asking its’ residents for approval of a proposed mill of up to 1.7 mills for 6 years.

The funds will help build a new township fire hall to replace the older smaller facility.

For the volunteer department the new building would help quicken response times and provide a safer work place.

Chocolay Township has been setting funds aside for this project.

They have already saved up enough to cover one third of the estimated 1.8 million dollar cost of the new facility.

The new structure will be added on to the current one.
