There was a buzz around Marquette County this morning, with quite a few people wondering, ‘what’s going on with two military helicopters in the area?’.
The answer is simple.
They served as transportation for Army National Guard soldiers who had to fly up here today from downstate Selfridge Air National Guard Base.
The soldiers are technology specialists who had to go to the Ishpeming National Guard Armory.
The facility’s computer network needed some upgrades, and Al Quaal Recreation Area was the nearest location where the Chinook helicopters could land.
So, they did land there this morning to drop the soldiers off.
Then the choppers returned shortly before 3 to pick the soldiers up and head back downstate again.
