Charter School Bucking Budget Trend

With many school districts figuring out how to stay out of a financial hole this fall, one individual school is feeling the opposite.

North Star Academy’s funding level in Marquette Township is sitting at basically the same level for this fall, with a few additions.

CEO Karen Anderson says the school is expecting increased enrollment for this fall, thanks to the addition of an elementary school.

Many districts are facing larger class sizes as one of the few options they have to stay out of the red.

Anderson says North Star is keeping class sizes below 20 students.

North Star Academy’s new elementary school addition is expected to be complete by August 20th, just in time for the first day of school September 7th.
