Charlie Brown comes to life
KINGSFORD — In Dickinson County, the beloved characters of Charles Schulz’s comic strip ‘Charlie Brown’ come to life on stage. Audience members get a glimpse of the day to day life of Charlie and his pals.
The Dickinson County Community Theater and a cast of seven people have been working for the last few months to put on the musical production of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”.
“It’s excerpts of Charlie Brown and his friends doing their Peanut kids thing,” said Thea Sheadig, who plays the character ‘Lucy’. “They go through life basically, they go through the seasons, they go through the holidays. They are just your basic peanuts kids having a lot of fun and the music is absolutely wonderful too.”
The musical is from Charlie Brown’s perspective and represents the frustrations that he faces. Rehearsals began back in January the community is encouraged to come out and support the cast.
“People should come and see it because I think it’s very family friendly,” said Marc Koerschner (Charlie Brown). “The little kids of course will adore Snoopy and all the characters and then the adults can relate to some of the troubles that the kids face too. It’s not set for one specific age group, anyone can come and enjoy the show.”
“We have so many talented individuals in this community,” said play director Deborah Wilton. “The cast and crew in this musical have worked so hard for the past two months it would be a shame to miss out on it.”
