Charity Ski & Snowboard Competition

A group of NMU students who hope to someday work in public relations is getting some on-the-job training.

The NMU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America puts on an annual ski and snowboard competition called the Jam for Love.

Chapter president Brian Price says all the proceeds go to Camp Star, part of the newly-formed U.P. Children’s Bereavement Network.

The non–profit agency’s mission is to address the needs of grieving children.

Camp Star offers kids from the ages of 8 to 16 who have lost a family member or loved one a camp experience.

Camp Star committee member Samantha Collins says the loved one can be a parent, grandparent, sibling or close friend.

The camp takes place August 10th through the 12th at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay.

The Jam for Love takes place this Saturday at Marquette Mountain.
