MARQUETTE — Marquette residents are one step closer to having a new place to enjoy some sand, sun, and surf.
Monday, the Marquette City Commission had a work session to discuss the Clark Lambros Beach Park beach house. After getting some initial construction bids, it was agreed that some changes would have to be made to the blueprints.
“The price came back more than we thought it was going to be, so consequently, there isn’t enough money appropriated for it, so we’re going to try to discuss reducing the size of it so that it will be covered by the money that’s available,” said Mayor Dave Campana, “The only thing that’s changing is just the design of the bathhouse. The parking lot may be one or two stalls smaller but that’s still going to be there. Nothing’s being eliminated, it’s just we’re trying–they’re going to downsize the bathhouse.”
Currently the city has just under a million to spend on the park, with the lion’s share going to the beach house. The Lambros family will have to have to make a request to amend the Development Agreement, which will have to be looked over by the City Commission later this month. If everyone agrees, a conditional use permit request can be submitted to the Planning Commission.
