Caring House Celebrity Waiters Dinner
One of the U.P.’s domestic violence shelters held a dinner last night to raise money while having a lot of fun.
Caring House of Iron Mountain hosted its annual spaghetti dinner last night at Kingsford High School.
The meal is served by celebrity waiters, and it’s Caring House’s primary fundraising event each year.
Caring House executive director Cheryl O’Neil says the dinner has been around for more than 20 years, and she says many of the waiters display a sense of humor by showing up in goofy costumes.
About a hundred silent auction items were up for bids.
They included an autographed photo of Michigan State men’s basketball coach, and Iron Mountain native, Tom Izzo.
O’Neil says she expects the event to bring in somewhere between $5,000 and $8,000, all of which will stay in Dickinson County.

Many of the waiters also earned tips by entertaining the crowd, and Mike did as well by breaking into song.
