Cardboard Classic sledding races
Creativity and cardboard will come together for a cold, but fun, day of sledding tomorrow.
The annual Scouts Cardboard Classic is taking place at Marquette Mountain.
The roots of the event go back more than ten years.
The ski hill and the education coordinator of the U.P. Children’s Museum have been preparing for the races today.
Jim Edwards says the favorite thing about the races for him is that they’re free of charge, and they’re a chance for families to learn more about what goes on in Cub Scouts.
The top finishers in various racing categories will receive ribbons, but the emphasis is more on creativity in the sleds.
Northern Michigan University students from Alpha Phi Omega, a fraternity dedicated to scouting, will be there helping out.
