U.S. 41 is down to two lanes in Negaunee Township after an accident between a car and a truck sent one man to the hospital.

A man driving a black sedan traveling westbound on U.S. 41 apparently failed to stop and ran into a construction truck. The incident happened at about 4:30 this afternoon. Eyewitnesses said the man in the sedan was able to get out of his vehicle on his own accord, but then stumbled to the ground upon exiting the car. Sources say he was then transported to the hospital for treatment. The two men driving the construction truck were not injured.

Gas spilled onto U.S. 41, and one lane of the highway in each direction is currently closed as officials try to clean up debris.

The Michigan State Police, the Negaunee Township Fire/EMS and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Department responded to the accident.
