Car crashes into utility pole in Iron Mountain, driver arrested

A Wisconsin man is in jail after allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and hitting a utility pole in Iron Mountain Tuesday afternoon.

A Wisconsin man is in jail after allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and hitting a utility pole in Iron Mountain Tuesday afternoon.

The Iron Mountain Police Department says the driver, a the 55-year-old man from Amberg, hit a utility pole, shearing it in half on the 200 block of Fourth Street around 3:30 p.m.

The man was found unresponsive when officers arrived on scene.  He was transported by Beacon Ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital where he was treated for injuries and later arrested.

The suspect is lodged in the Dickinson County Jail on a $250 cash bond.

The Iron Mountain Fire Department and We Energies also responded to the scene.
