Can’t make it home for Thanksgiving? Not to worry

MARQUETTE — If you’re like many of us here at ABC 10, you may not get to be with family for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Fortunately, there’s a new trend for those of us who still want a little turkey dinner. Friendsgiving is a Thanksgiving dinner celebrated with friends instead of family. It’s a great option if you can’t make it home, and Steinhaus Market hosted a gourmet version Monday night.

“We have a huge student body here so we’re hoping to get a lot of people who couldn’t make it home for the holidays in here today,” said Sarah Reynolds, a server at the Steinhaus Market, “[We] just wanted to offer an event that everyone could come share our food with and just, all be together!”

Steinhaus served braised turkey, candied carrots, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. And, if that didn’t sound tasty enough, the restaurant gets as many ingredients as possible from local sources.
