Campaign hopes to change school board decision on firing of football coach
ESCANABA — The battle between former Escanaba football head coach Jim Hansen and the Escanaba school administration continued this week as the board came to a unanimous decision to go through with his suspension from coaching and teaching.
The punishment stems from an incident back in June from a video that showed Hansen jumping through a stack of textbooks. That video has since been taken down.
The community has been behind Hansen for the entire process and now there is an online petition on the website change.org for Hansen to keep his job. It’s already at 2000 supporters in the last 24 hours.
The case will now go before a state administrative law judge.
