Calumet Man Murdered in Georgia

A Calumet man is dead after being fatally stabbed by his father in the state of Georgia.

Friends say 24–year–old Shaun Mitchell just wanted to spend the holidays with his family in his hometown of College Park, Georgia, near Atlanta.

However, according to police, Shaun’s father, 50–year–old Johnson Mitchell, stabbed Shaun to death last Thursday after a late-night argument escalated out of hand.

On the night of the murder, Johnson Mitchell reportedly woke his 11-year-old and 12-year-old daughters just before midnight and demanded that they clean the bathroom and kitchen.

A woman who accompanied Shaun on his trip argued that one of the children should be instead working on a school project.

Shaun got involved in the dispute.

Police say Johnson Mitchell then took a large kitchen knife and stabbed his son, who died at the scene.

The woman’s 4-year-old son was also in the home at the time of the attack.

So were Shaun’s 77-year-old grandmother and his 9-year-old brother.

The Fulton County Police Department arrested Johnson Mitchell the next morning on charges of murder and possession of a knife or firearm during the commission of a felony.
