Calley withdraws from FinnFest

Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley has had to cut his trip to the Upper Peninsula short.

Governor Rick Snyder’s office says Calley has been forced to return to Lansing because of urgent legislative issues that require his immediate attention.

The Michigan Senate may vote as soon as today on the Medicare expansion that the House approved last week.

The lieutenant governor has been forced to withdraw from the Wednesday events that he was planning on attending, including several activities at FinnFest in Hancock.

However, officials with the governor’s office say Calley still intends to return to the U.P. for the events that he’s scheduled to participate in on Thursday.
