Buy some books – volunteers hold library fundraiser

MARQUETTE — A local library is hoping you’ll visit this weekend and take a few books home – for good.

The Friends of the Peter White Public Library in Marquette are hosting their bi-annual book sale to benefit the library. Some of the books were donated from members of the community and some were pulled from the library’s stock. The sale will help fund many library programs and services.

Collection Department and Reference Librarian Cathy Sablonka says, “It’s run by the friends of the Peter White Public Library and the friends group raises money for a lot of our programs and for our movie licenses, and a lot of special things, our book page subscription, and some of the services that we can offer at the library are funded through the friends and this is their major way of fundraising for the library so we need everybody to come and take home books.”

The fundraiser starts Wednesday night with a pre-sale, with a $5 admission.

It continues Thursday night.

Friday will be “Freaky Friday” where all items are half off and Saturday will be the “Super Sale,” where you can fill a grocery bag full of any books or audio books for only $3.
