A large brush fire in Dickinson County burned 16 acres of land on Sunday.

Kingsford Public Safety received a call just after 1:30 p.m. Central time about the fire in a wooded area west of Wagner Drive and north of Riverhills Road.

Crews were on scene for about three hours. The Iron Mountain Fire Department, Breitung Township Fire Department, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Kingsford Department of Public Works and Beacon Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The Kingsford Public Safety Department says they are grateful for the support of the citizens who supplied bottled water and other items to the firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
