Breitung Township woman arrested for embezzlement

Officers from the Iron Mountain Police Department arrested 67-year-old Josephine Novara of Breitung Township Monday, June 23rd after investigating an embezzlement complaint.

Police say they initially received the complaint from the First National Bank and Trust’s North Side Branch on June 13th. The investigation revealed that over $10,000 had been stolen.

Following the investigation and Dickinson County Prosecutor Lisa Richard’s review of the complaint, Novara was arrested on one count of embezzlement from a financial institution, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Novara has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 2nd in District Court.
