Since being hired on May 11, Bill Sall, the new head coach of the Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team has been on the road, recruiting players for the incoming freshman class. Coach Sall didn’t have to venture very far from Marquette to add not one, but two players to the roster.

Brett Branstrom from Rock Mid Peninsula and Wade Schetter from Carney-Nadeau announced today that they have committed to play basketball at NMU. Both Branstrom and Schetter were named to the All U.P. Boys Basketball Dream Team by the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

“One of the things that he (Coach Sall) really sold me on is being part of the team that helps turn the program around,” said Branstrom. “I want to help Northern get back to where they used to be,” Branstrom went on to say.

The two newest Wildcats know each other quite well. Schetter and Branstrom have played together before, most recently at the Negaunee Invitational Basketball Tournament.
