Boy drowns in Little Bay de Noc
A 14-year-old boy drowned in Little Bay de Noc in Escanaba Thursday night.
The Escanaba Department of Public Safety says the boy was reported missing just before 5:30 p.m. Thursday from the northeast end of the beach at Ludington Park.
A search began immediately. The boy’s body was found at around 9:15 p.m., having drowned.
The boy’s family has been notified, but police say no other information is being released at this time.
The Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Delta County Search and Rescue, Delta County Dive Team, Gladstone Public Safety, Troopers from the Gladstone Post of the Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR, Victims Services, the U.S. Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary all assisted at the scene.
