Bootjack Road Suspect Has Court Delay

A former Lake Linden resident suspected of multiple break-ins in the Bootjack Road area is still waiting for his next court appearance.

18-year-old Jakob Hill was brought before the judge in 97th District Court on Friday for a preliminary hearing but his attorney David Gemignani said he needed more time to look over recently received evidence in the case.

Hill and 19-year-old Cody Schmidt of Moose Lake are believed to be responsible for at least 20 burglaries in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

The two suspects were arrested in October in Minnesota. Police say they recovered stolen firearms, electronics, sporting goods, and cash.

Hill was extradited back to Michigan and charged with three counts of 2nd Degree Home Invasion and Receiving and Concealing Firearms.

The preliminary exam for Hill was rescheduled for December 5th.
