Bonnie Hoff Quits City Attorney Post

After last week’s word of a settlement with the City of Marquette, the city attorney illgeally fired several years ago has resigned.

Bonnie Hoff has quit the job, but the City Commission may decide not to accept the settlement the 2 sides reached last week.

The commission voted to fire Hoff in January 2005.

But she and her attorneys over the years claimed the job was still hers because court hearings found her firing was illegal.

The city, and specifically former commissioners Sandy Spoelstra and Sue Kensington, were found to have violated the state Open Meetings Act.

The City Commission is talking over the settlement offer when they meet tonight.
