Bomb Scare Reward Fund Grows

The Marquette area is continuing to show support for seeking justice in the Black Friday bomb threats. The evacuation of more than a half dozen businesses on November 25 resulted in thousands of dollars of lost revenue for Marquette and Marquette Township establishments. It also has prompted an old-fashioned donation drive: in the form of a growing reward fund.

The Mining Journal started the fund November 26 with a $500 contribution. Publisher Jim Reevs issued a challenge to other businesses. Since then, the reward fund has grown to $3,100.00 through donations from: Econo Foods, Wal-Mart, The Westwood Mall, U.P. Home Health and Hospice, The Marquette Township Business Association, the Lake Superior Community Partnership, Tourville Apartments, The Marquette Country Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, The John Marshall Family and several anonymous donors.

The $3,000 reward fund is for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for the bomb threat. To contribute, contact The Mining Journal at 906.228.2500.

If you have information that could help the investigation of this crime, contact the Marquette Police Department at 906.228.0400.
