Blueberry Talent plucked for show
The 12th Annual Downtown Marquette Blueberry Festival is still a few days away, but today, the Lake Superior Youth Theatre Company plucked some fresh acts for Friday’s Talent Show.
Dozens of performers lined the halls of the Gravereat Building in Marquette for their shot at a spot in this year’s Front Street showcase. The eclectic blend of acts ranged in age from 6 to 18 years old, and spanned a variety of genres. There were singers, dancers, musicians, and even some hoola hoopers in the mix.
“We try to mix it up so you get a little bit of everything if you’re downtown. Some people can stop in at their lunch hour at noon and see a showcase. We try not to put all the singers together. It’s my favorite event of the year because I don’t have to do much other than give the kids the stage and let them take course. We have some hosts that will probably be providing some entertainment between acts. Really, it’s just a lovely showcase in a beautiful downtown, on a beautiful sound system. It’s some really talented youth out there that really get to show what they have,” explained Nikke Nason, the event coordinator and Artistic Director for the Lake Superior Youth Theatre.
The auditions were more of a formality to make sure each act was ready and fit the spirit of the show. You can see all of the performers in action for free friday morning from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of Front and Washington Street.
